Transcript for "Joe - Emissions Service Center owner" radio segment aired 4/15/04 - 4/30/04 as a public education piece:

Sound FX: (Auto mechanic sounds in background).

JOE: I'll be honest with you, the Connecticut Emissions Test Program is working.

ANNOUNCER: Joe owns one of the nearly 300 local service stations participating in the New Connecticut Emissions Test Program.

JOE: The whole idea behind the Connecticut Emissions Test Program is to fight air pollution. Experts say more than 40 percent of all air pollution comes from cars and trucks. And that affects the health of children, the elderly, asthma and bronchitis sufferers, anyone who works or plays outdoors.

That sounds like practically everyone, to me.

If you get a letter in the mail telling you to bring your car in for emission testing, you have 300 different locations to choose from. So there's bound to be one close to you.

We all take appointments and walk-ins - it doesn't take very long. In no time, you'll be on your way.

You'll know your car's emissions controls will be working the way they should.

And your fellow Connecticut residents will be healthier, too.

ANNOUNCER: The New Connecticut Emissions Test Program. Clearing the air. For all of us. Brought to you by the Department of Motor Vehicles and Applus+ Technologies. Making Connecticut's air cleaner and healthier for everyone.
