Using a Certified Emission Repair Technician
It is advisable to use Certified Emissions Repair Technician who is an automotive technician who has successfully passed a State of Connecticut required training program devoted specifically to the repair of emission problems. A repair facility that employs a Certified Emission Repair Technician is designated as a Certified Emission Repair Facility. Only repairs performed at a Certified Emissions Repair Facility will be considered eligible when requesting a waiver.
The Test Center that tested your vehicle may employ a Certified Emissions Repair Technician. You will be provided with a list of Certified Emission Repair Facilities in your area. You may also call the Emissions Hotline at (888) 828-8399 or click here for a complete list of repair facilities in the state. If your vehicle fails an emissions test, you will have 30 calendar days to obtain repairs and pass the one-time free re-test (test number 2). This free re-test must be performed at the same test center that performed the initial test.
If you question the validity of your vehicle's emissions test, you are entitled to challenge the results, free of charge, within 15 business days by calling the DMV at (203) 271-5427.
