Your vehicle’s test cycle is determined in accordance with state and federal requirements. In most cases, you will receive an official notification letter with a generous time period before your vehicle’s test date. If you recently purchased a used vehicle that was previously registered in Connecticut, you will not receive a notification letter. However, it is your responsibility to have your vehicle tested within 30 days of registering it in your name, with or without a notification letter. Please use the search box on this page to determine your vehicle's test date. Contact the Connecticut Emissions Program at 1-888-828-8399 if you have questions concerning this policy.
If you do not have the vehicle tested, it does not pass or has not been granted a waiver within the testing cycle, DMV will not renew the vehicle's registration.
Your current mailing address is needed to notify you about your new test date. Check the address on your vehicle registration. If it is incorrect you must, by law, correct it. You can change your address online at dmvct.org or at any DMV office.
Search for Your Test Date and sign up for an email reminder.
You can determine your test date using your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Refer to your vehicle registration document to find your VIN.
