Why Does Connecticut Need Emissions Testing?

Connecticut needs emissions testing because our air does not meet federal clean air standards. Part of the solution is reducing vehicle emissions, which account for more than 40 percent of our pollution. The Emissions Program helps reduce air pollution by identifying high-emitting vehicles and requiring that they be repaired. Air pollution affects the health of everyone, especially children, the elderly, asthma and bronchitis sufferers, and people who work and play outdoors.
