First-Time Failure

What Should I Receive From the Inspector?

After testing, the inspector will give you a Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR) identifying the test results and the date by which your vehicle can obtain a free retest at the original test center.  You will also receive an Emission Repair Data form and a list of the Certified Emission Repair Facilities in your community. Test Centers are required to provide this list to the motorist. A state wide list is available upon request.

The Emission Repair Data Form must be completed to qualify for a vehicle’s first free (if done within 30 days of the initial failure) retest and all subsequent retests.
