Tests For Propane-Powered Vehicles

Propane-powered vehicles that are 1996 and newer will receive an OBD test. The inspector will connect the on-board computer, which continuously monitors the engine and emissions controls, to the inspection computer and downloads the data. The results are printed on the Vehicle Inspection Report, which you receive at the end of the test.

If you pass the OBD test, you pass the emissions test.

1995 and older propane vehicles and some 1996 model year and newer vehicles that do not respond to emissions testing using OBD will receive a tailpipe test.
