Easy and Efficient Tests

For vehicles model year 1996 or newer, Certified Testing Inspectors will plug a scan tool into the vehicle's On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) computer system to download data and determine if emissions components are properly functioning.

Emissions from vehicles that are 1995 and older will be measured by inserting a sensor-probe in the tailpipe. Some vehicles will be driven on a dynamometer, a treadmill-type simulator of real-world driving conditions.
